» About Me »

What started it, many years ago, is a habit of recording all that I encounter. One of my early memories is spending my pocket money on a roll of film for my dad's Kodak Box camera, and exploring my world through a lens. When I was 12, a teacher encouraged me to develop my drawing talent, which resulted in me going to the art academy, at the young age of 17. And ended up being a goldsmith!

After some years I got fed up with the poverty of the artists life, and found a commercial, well paying job - thus creating financial freedom.

I have never stopped learning, study is a road to development and personal growth.

I moved to Rotterdam, went to Open University to learn sketching and drawing human models.

When I bought a Hi8 video camera, nothing was safe from my spying eye. -I filmed it all! Pubs, clubs, concerts, theatre, street life, exhibitions, anything that touched my heart - I have got it on tape. I joined Pizza TV, a famous art project in Rotterdam, which made TV on demand in 1995! Live-TV, people would call in and off we went to film and deliver. We had legendary broadcasts lasting 24 hours.

Next step was to find an answer to all the questions that came while working for television without any technical skills - I went back to school and learned to be a good editor. Mind you, I never became a geek, but I get by.

Moving back to the south of Holland, I joined local television in Valkenburg. Started as a camera woman and editor, soon found myself a member of the board, and later became head of TV. Following that was 2 years of schooling to be a producer in Hasselt and Genk, Belgium.

I now work freelance for regional and national TV in the Netherlands, and still do regular work for TV Valkenburg. I specialise in short news items, video clips, commercials, documentaries.

In 2007 I discovered machinima, a relative unknown film technique, which caught my attention and became a passion. The SL PRODUCTIONS part of this website shows my work till now. For me, machinima opens a world in which I feel total artistic freedom and room to explore and grow.
